Can you believe I used to be a french tip hater? 🤯 That was before I discovered the endless possibilities of french nails beyond simple white tips. Now many of my manis feature a french tip!

If you're looking to shake up your french nail game, here are 10 french tip nail ideas that aren't boring!

1. Ombre nails with french tips

Try incorporating a few french nails in a set with full coverage nails! For this set, I did a black and burgundy gradient on my thumb, index and middle fingers, and a burgundy french tip on the ring and pinky fingers. It breaks up the repetition on each finger, and it could definitely be replicated with any colours! ❤️

2. Swirly abstract french tips

These are definitely not your average french tips! For this set, I painted a bunch of squiggles where the french nail would usually be to form an abstract tip. And of course, I topped it with some iridescent chrome* because I couldn't resist!

3. Colourful french tips

A fun way to spice up a full set of french tips is to use one or several fun colours for the tips. For this set I picked some of my favourite colours for the tips, and used a pink iridescent chrome* on top.

4. Chrome tips

You can't go wrong with chrome! For this set, I did some red chrome* hearts on the ring finger and thumb, and red chrome tips on the rest of the nails. Chrome tips on each nail would be gorgeous as well, and there are so many chrome colour options* to try!

5. Split tips

These split french tips are so simple and fun! Just create a half french tip, then use another colour to paint the entire other half of the nail. I did this set in red, green and gold for the holidays, but just about any colour combo would be cute!

6. Marble tips

Swirl two gel polishes together to create a french tip with a marble effect. Try using a clean up brush dipped in a bit of isopropyl alcohol to get a clean smile line for the french tips.

7. Swirly tips

What's better than nail art you can do with just the polish brush? 😍 Similar to the split french tips, just create half french tips, then use the polish brush to create a swirl design on the other half of the nail.

8. Swirly lines

Another fun way to spice up a mani is to create some french tips that mimic design on your other nails. For this set, I did some swirly lines on my ring and pinky fingers, and mimicked this style as french tips on my index and middle fingers.

9. Bejeweled tips

A super simple way to spice up some plain french tips is to add some bling! 💎 You can add some gems*, pearls, or charms to your french nails.

10. Glossy tips

French nails don't always require a neutral base! Try using a matte top coat* over a solid colour on the whole nail (dark usually works best). Then, create a french tip using a glossy top coat. There are so many ways to vary this method. Try different tip shapes, like a round or V tip, or try using different glossy top coats, like a shimmer or holographic topper.
